She is honoured to be considered by the Mountain Innovations and Research Institute (MIRI) as a resourceful volunteer, and is enthusiastic about contributing to the vital work of research and conservation in mountain regions of Uganda and beyond. Sarah holds a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management and a Master’s degree in Integrated Watershed Management, both of which have equipped her with the skills and knowledge necessary for effective environmental stewardship and sustainable resource management.
Throughout her professional career, she has gained extensive experience in environmental research, disaster risk reduction (DRR), and community resource management. My expertise includes watershed conservation, soil and water conservation practices, and sustainable land management, all of which directly align with MIRI’s objectives of fostering research for action and engaging communities in conservation efforts.
In addition, she possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills, which she has applied in various projects related to environmental conservation and climate adaptation. Her work with communities has involved developing and implementing sustainable practices tailored to local conditions, focusing on enhancing resilience and restoring degraded ecosystems. She has also contributed to awareness creation initiatives aimed at educating and empowering communities to take proactive measures in conserving their environments.
She believes that her background in environmental and watershed management, coupled with hands-on experience in research, community engagement, and restoration activities, will allow her to make a meaningful contribution to MIRI’s mission. She is equally excited about the opportunity for career development and collaboration with MIRI’s partners and networks, particularly in areas of disaster risk reduction and sustainable resource use. Sarah pledges to contribute to MIRI’s impactful initiatives.
